Journey to the heart of gorgeous Timisoara to find Piata Victoriei (Victory Square), the city’s picturesque main plaza. Also known as Opera Square, this central locale features quaint coffee houses, shopping streets and exquisite architecture.
Victory Square has long been a meeting place for locals and artisans. Take a guided tour and learn about the origins of the square’s name, which refers to the successful revolt against Romanian Communism in 1989.
Admire the square’s beauty as you stroll along its wide paths. In the center of the square is an exquisite flower display and a picturesque fountain. Photograph the scenery, which is framed by beautiful examples of 1920s architecture in the surrounding façades.
At one end of the plaza, the Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral towers into the sky.
